January 14th, 2010 at 6:00, I’ll be holding the official release for my new drumset method book, Building Grooves, A Beginner’s Guide To Drumset Control And Coordination. The celebration will have two parts, a solo percussion concert, and a drumset clinic. In the concert, I’ll be performing pieces for drumset, snare drum, and marimba (and maybe a djembe piece if I can manage to fit it in!).  Several of the pieces will be my own compositions, and the performances will be the first time they’ll be played in public. I’m titling the concert Create Your Own World, and all the pieces will fit into that vision. Of course, you’ll have to be there to find out how!

The clinic will focus on the ideas that ultimately led me to write the book (in a somewhat round-about way), and also led me to develop my foot operated snare drum. Isn’t it amazing what a little bit of boredom behind the drumset can lead to!

Make sure to get there early, to enter into the door prize drawing! I’ll be giving away CD’s, sheet music, and of course, a free copy of the book! I’ll also have several items for sale at a special price on that day only!

Finally, I’ll be video recording the whole affair, to compile into a promo video. I’m going to be sending it off to music stores around the area to start setting up a clinic tour starting this summer. From there, who knows where I may end up! So, if you’re not in the Raleigh area, send me your recommendations of your favorite independent music store and I’ll work on bringing the clinic to you! If you are in the  Raleigh area, make sure to come out, bring a friend, and cheer loudly!
